An audit of a southeast retail jewelry chain resulted in combined savings of over $324,000 over a three-year period. The client’s long distance company was over billing them, and in addition to obtaining refunds of $51,000; GSI renegotiated their contracts and reduced their rates by 38%.
 


A large hospital complex in Florida
realized major reductions and changes in their telecom spend rates. A thorough technical review by GSI of over 1,000 special circuits and 2,000 phone lines revealed that 31% of them were inactive or disconnected – while still being billed! The result was over $400,000 in credits and refunds from three different carriers. In addition, federal and state sales taxes paid over the last seven years on their telephone bills were recovered to the tune of $200,000. A national multi-media communications company
realized savings of 38% after GSI completed a telephone bill audit of 29 TV stations, 8 newspaper operations, and 5 distribution centers. The analysis uncovered over $100,000 in bogus local service charges that had mysteriously appeared over the past five years. Also, the detailed review found that 50% of the total lines being billed by the RBOCs contained long distance charges on their local bills that should appear separately on their long distance carriers’ bills – they were paying rates that were 300% higher than necessary! Refunds were negotiated by GSI, which resulted in $212,000 of back billing charges being rebated.



A national assisted care living corporation
had 11 separate billing disputes with their various local and long distance carriers. Some of them had been pending for over two years. GSI was able to intervene and bring resolution to each case in less than 60 days. The total annual value of the refunds and credits were $661,000. In addition, a review of 1,700 local phone bills with 47 different local companies yielded another $337,000 in annual savings.



A major health care provider
